WHAT TO EXPECT

A trustworthy & personalized approach to healthcare that promotes overall wellness.

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct healthcare profession that combines the wisdom of nature with the rigors of modern science. Naturopathic doctors (NMDs) are trained as primary care providers who diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic conditions while addressing disease and dysfunction at the level of body, mind, and spirit. NMDs concentrate on whole-patient wellness through health promotion and disease prevention, while addressing the underlying cause of the patient’s condition.

Naturopathic physicians provide individualized, evidence-informed therapies that balance the least harmful and most effective approaches to help facilitate the body’s inherent ability to restore and maintain optimal health. Naturopathic doctors are experts in natural medicine, and naturopathic medical education is the most efficient and direct way to train as a primary care doctor who specializes in natural medicine.

WHAT TO EXPECT

New Patient Initial Visit

Up to 100 minutes with the doctor.

We call this the “fact-finding” mission. First, there is a 100-minute new patient appointment. This is where all medical history, relevant physical exams, and information is gathered.  Appropriate testing and lab orders will be discussed and recommended, so that pertinent information to your health can be assessed at the follow-up visit. We call this the “fact-finding” mission so that we encompass your personal health picture and make effective treatment plans moving forward. We will also always take into account the mental and emotional aspect to what is going on in your health journey.

  • Does Dr. Kristen do family, pediatric, and well-woman visits?
Dr. K is happy to provide this care for you and your family, however, she does not offer pap smears in the office at this time.
  • Will Dr. Kristen work with my other doctors?
Absolutely.  We strive to make sure we are communicating effectively with all of your healthcare team.
  • Do I have to be seen in-office?
We offer both Telehealth and in-office visits at this time.
  • I saw Dr. Kristen Salzwedel (Dr. K) at a previous practice, and I'm interested in re-establishing care. What do I need to do?
Call or go online to schedule a “New Patient Visit” and we would be happy to get you set up as a new patient in our clinic. This is because your medical records and information are retained by the previous clinic you were seen at.  We will provide a records release to get those added to your new chart with us as needed.
  • I was seen over a year ago (or longer) by Dr. Kristen and would like to “get back on track” to come in to see her again. What do I do?
Call or go online to schedule a “New Patient Visit” (if it has been 14 months or longer) since an immense amount can and does change in that amount of time and Dr. K is required to get a full assessment of your health for safety purposes. If it has been 13 months or less, just go online or call and book a 60-minute appointment and we can get going again!
  • I would like to schedule a Medical Marijuana (MMJ) card certification evaluation. What do I do?
Call or go online to book a Medical Marijuana (MMJ) evaluation. Bring a valid ID and SNAP paperwork, if relevant. We will do the assessment and access the online portal together.
  • Do you run labs ahead of the first visit?
We are unable to run labs on someone who has not yet established care.  Lab/imaging orders will be provided at the first appointment, if necessary.
  • I saw Dr. Hooper, Craig, or Lucia or saw the information over at “No Sweat” and was either recommended to see Dr. Kristen or inquired about her services, but have not met her yet or established care. How do I proceed?
Hello and Welcome! We are excited to get you set up. For Comprehensive New Patient Naturopathic Care, please go online or call to book a 100-minute visit. This ensures you have a spot in her practice and have access to address all your concerns. >>> For only very focused concerns, situational issues, Immune boosting, B12 injections, or pain relief options (non-opioid) there is a potential option for a limited exam only and adding services you choose according to your needs on an individual basis. Only the limited focus concern will be discussed that day and addressed. Any future concerns will need additional appointments and are addressed one at a time versus “comprehensively” in these situations of “non-fully-established” new patients. Priority scheduling will be given to Dr. K’s existing patients.
  • Do you offer peptides and what if I am only currently interested in peptides at this time?
Yes! We offer a larger menu of peptides than is listed on the website. Call or go online to book a peptide consult for more details. Dr. K will help direct your decision.
